Journey through the history of Spain, through its landscapes and customs, the cuisine of the Basque country, the coasts and mountains of Cantabria and Asturias, until you reach the magical Galician forests, by the Northern Camino de Santiago.

itinerary

Day 1 Madrid 
We will meet in the lobby at the hotel in Madrid at 1pm, with the team of guides who accompany us on our journey.  After introductions and a presentation providing an overview of the tour, we will depart for panoramic tour of the capital of Spain by bus. We will visit the most emblematic places of the city and walk through its historic centre. After the visit, you will enjoy a welcome dinner at the famous restaurant Asador Donostiarra,  whilst you continue getting to know each other before the beginning of our Camino.
Return to the hotel and accommodation.  

Day 2 San Sebastian
We journey on the bus after breakfast, heading to San Sebastian. Stopping at Burgos to visit the historical centre and its famous Gothic Cathedral (with audio guide).
Lunch at restaurant Mesón del Cid, a typical Spanish meal.  In the afternoon, arrival to San Sebastian and accommodation at the Hotel Londres Inglaterra. Dinner at your leisure.  

Day 3 San Sebastian
In the morning we will visit in this beautiful city of the Basque country with a local guide. We will also enjoy a tapas tour where we will taste the famous pintxos of San Sebastian. Afternoon free in the city.  Dinner at a famous Gipuzkoa restaurant with a Michelin star. Hotel accommodation at Londres de Inglaterra.

Day 4 Bilbao
Today we finally put our feet on the Camino Norte. The stage is short, but of great beauty. Leaving from the hotel, you will visit la Concha and Ondarreta beaches and ascend Mount Igueldo to admire the fantastic views of the city (5kms). After the walking stage, we drive to Bilbao, where we stay at the Hotel Domine, in front of the Guggenheim Museum. Lunch at your leisure.
In the afternoon our tour will include a visit to the Museum (with audio guide), where you will be able to admire both its permanent exhibition, and the temporary exhibitions that there at that time, in addition to the splendid building designed by Frank Gehry. Dinner at the hotel Domine Bilbao.

Day 5 Santillana de Mar
Today our journey along the Way of Santiago, leads us to Cantabrian land, a very beautiful stage of (8, 5 km), from Otañes to Castro Urdiales, with a special arrival at this seaside resort.  
Lunch at your leisure. After which we will make a visit to the world famous caves of Altamira, home of the best paintings of the Neolithic era, (visiting the neo-cave and the Museum, with a guide). After this interesting visit, we stay in the beautiful town of Santillana del Mar.  Accommodation and dinner in the Parador Gil Blas.

Day 6 Picos de Europa
This morning, we start our stage in the town of Comillas, where we will make a brief visit of the exterior of the Sobrellano Palace and Capricho de Gaudi. Our walk takes us along the coast through incredible landscapes to the town of San Vicente de la Barquera (8 km), where we will enjoy a well deserved lunch at the restaurant Annua, with Chef Oscar Calleja and its two Michelin stars.
After lunch, we enter the National Park of Picos de Europa, to visit scenic spots and the monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana, where the relic of the Lignum Crucis, the larger piece of the cross of Christ is saved and for centuries was the fourth holiest place of Christendom after Jerusalem, Rome and Santiago de Compostela.  Accommodation and dinner in the Parador de source De.

Day 7 Oviedo
After breakfast, we climb the cable car to admire the best views of the Picos de Europa.  After descending from the cable car, we journey to the capital of the Principality of Asturias, to stay in the iconic Hotel La Reconquista. Lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon, we will visit in Oviedo with a local guide, and learn about its historical centre and above all, the very interesting Cathedral of San Salvador. We will visit the chapel of the relics, and the relic of the Holy face (shroud of the face of Christ), which originally was part of the relic of the shroud of Turin and separated from this, is today kept in the Cathedral of Oviedo. Dinner at hotel.

Day 8 Ribadeo
Today we walk our final steps along Asturias and finally arrive in Galicia. We will walk the stretch between Soto del Barco and El Pito (9 Km). A simple and beautiful stage with stretches in nature. After finishing the stage walk, we will visit one of the most beautiful coastal towns of Spain, Cudillero, where we will enjoy a wonderful lunch at restaurant La Lonja of Cudillero.
After lunch, we will go to the port of Figueras, we will embark as pilgrims did in the middle ages, on a private boat that will cross the Ria of Ribadeo to arrive on the land of Galicia.  Dinner and accommodation at the Parador de Ribadeo, in rooms overlooking the sea.

Day 9 Lugo
after enjoying a beautiful sunrise from the Parador we enter in Galicia, to make our stage on foot, from the outskirts of Bahamonde to Miraz (12 Km) and begin to learn about the Galician lands, its villages and people. This is a very beautiful stage of forests and magical landscapes. In Miraz we will enjoy a picnic lunch.
After lunch, we will drive to the capital of the province, Lugo, where we will visit its 3rd century Roman wall, (a World Heritage site), as well as the Cathedral and take in the vibrant life of this city.  We will enjoy an exclusive tapas tour in this medieval village setting.  
Accommodation in the hotel Méndez Núñez.

Day 10 Monte do Gozo
Today we walk to the very gates of Santiago de Compostela. Departing from Pedrouzo to Lavacolla (10km). We will visit the Monte do Gozo, the place from which you can see the towers of the Cathedral, and will feel the emotions that so many millions of pilgrims have experienced for centuries to see the long-awaited goal.  We will stop for a meal in the restaurant Ruta Jacobea.
Close by to Monte do Gozo, we will settle into our accommodation in Casa Torre Branca. In the afternoon, we will have a cooking class in the establishment, taught by the hands of an expert cook, with dinner included.

Day 11 Santiago
Our big day is here, the arrival in Santiago. Starting from Monte do Gozo we walk the last 5 kilometers to reach the Cathedral and attend the Pilgrim’s mass. After which we will admire the flight of the famous “botafumeiro”, (always guaranteed to be operating).
We arrive as medieval pilgrims to our accommodation in the Parador de los Reyes Católicos, in the beautiful Plaza del Obradoiro, where we will have the afternoon free to explore this world heritage city.
In the evening, we celebrate with a farewell dinner, with some very special surprises, and you will receive a certificate of your visit to the Cathedral, issued by the Cathedral chapter.  Accommodation in the Parador.

Day 12 Finisterre
After breakfast, we will have a complete visit of the historical center on foot with a local guide, to get to know the corners and the history of this Holy City created around the Sepulcher of the Apostle. We will finish this tour with a visit to the roofs of the Cathedral, where we will know all the secrets of the construction of this magnificent temple that took centuries to complete. After these visits, we will go to the perfect epilogue of our pilgrimage, Finisterre, the end of the world baptized by the Romans and that today is the final goal of many pilgrims, who continue walking until the end of the world known in antiquity. We will have a lunch in the port of Finisterre in the restaurant O Centolo with the best products from the Galician coasts, after which we will visit the lighthouse, its cliffs and the famous 0 (zero) kilometer of the Camino de Santiago. Before returning to Santiago, we will make another brief stop in Muxía, another Jacobean landmark, and its Sanctuary of the Virgin of La Barca, who appeared to Santiago on a stone boat in the sea when he was preaching on Iberian lands . Return to Santiago and accommodation at the Parador. 

Day 13 Santiago
Breakfast at the hotel. End of tour and our services. Buen Camino!
